After a few months of my new 25+ sitting on the shelf I've finally got round to plugging it into the Win8 laptop via the USB port. The Configurator however fails to find any device connected. Tried on another Win8 laptop and same result. Is this an OS issue? looking through the manual I see it only mentions Win10 :-( Are there drivers available for use on earlier OS? I really don't want to have to shell out for a new laptop.

Interesting.... I've tried the other COM port and it's now able to detect it. This is odd because I'm 100% certain I tried both ports last night. Anyway, I'm in now and thankyou for the suggestions.
Hi Robert, In that case the USB cable will almost certainly be ok. I have heard of some people using Windows 8 without much issue, but i have never tested it myself unfortunately. If you can borrow another Windows 10 laptop to verify that everything is working ok first, that would be great.
Hi George, yes the machine makes a sound when the PDM is plugged in. It is listed as STMicroelectronics Virtual COM Port. I'll see if I have another cable somewhere...
Hi Robert, Does the laptop make a sound when you plug the PDM into the laptop? Also, can you see the PDM in device manager at all? It should come under COM Ports. Please try a different USB port and a different USB cable too if possible.
People have used the software with Windows 8 in the past, as far as i know it should still detect the PDM when you plug in.
If the answer is no to these questions, then please email contact@hardwire-electronics.co.uk and we can help further there.
That's unfortunately been attempted many many times without success.
more than likely you can upgrade to Windows 10 at no cost.
