    Motec SDL can template

in Welcome to the Tech Forum

Has anybody interfaced the Hardwire PDM30 with a Motec SDL as yet ?

    I'm looking at either :

    1. Creating a custom Motec SDL CAN template to accept the HWPDM30 output.

    2. Creating a custom HWPDM30 output to match a preexisting motec PDM can template.

What are your thoughts on my suggestions ?

The motec template creation process is rather time consuming and done via a dodgy motec adl backdoor process .

    Feedback appreciated.

used a workaround for compound messaging, only needed to send a few things so was not an issue. May run into issues as Motec uses compound messaging it seems for almost everything.

Using the ADL trick might work but you are limited by 6 CAN slots. Do do all of the info from Hardwire would need 9. Not sure if you are using CAN for anything else.

Prob easier to mimic Motec PDM. I have Hardwire PDM receiving from M8xx Hundred Series, and sending from Hardware PDM to M8xx mimicking a Motec Dash sending to ECU.

I think it depends on how much info you are trying to send. In theory it should work either way, either Mimic a Motec PDM, or create custom CAN template on SDL. I dont recall if the SDL allow custom or not.

@zarpspeed not officially. SDL usually has predefined selections.. ADL has the capability and the workaround is to copy thr ADL files into the correct SDL folder to make it work...
