Hi, I've just done a couple of test crimps on test wire for my PDM install and find the quality of the crimp is dire.

I am using IWC-1424A crimper which appears as the correct one for Open Barrel Deutsche on my research:

... and ending up with a good crimp on the wire itself but distorted on the cable outer, the legs bend back and not into the cable outer :

Anyone confirm that I am using the correct crimper and advise which one if I am not please?

Alternatively, I have plenty of the closed barrel deutsche crimps which use a lovely 4 side crimper, can I use these instead?

Need to get this right before I start on the car loom.
