USB self power

I have the usb for my PDM15 plugged into a usb hub along with my dash/ecu/TCU so I just have a single cable that needs to plug into the laptop for adjustments. However the self powering of the PDM from the USB port means that when I have to cycle the power on the car as part of any work I also have to unplug the the usb as well for everything to turn off. It’s only a small thing but it’s irritating and if I forget it can lead to ecu errors for the DBW relay for example. It was great for bench setup before I installed it!

is there any way to disable this feature in the software? I can’t see the option but thought best to ask. I’m assuming the 5v in the usb cable is what powers it during this time?

the other option im considering without going internal to the circuitry of the PDM is to remove the 5v supply from the usb cable and join it to the 5v PDM output? This would then only power the usb when the ignition and PDM is on. Any reason this wouldn’t work?

cheers

I have used this cable in one of our race cars. then have the USB-A side plugged into a Dash mounted USB-B to USB-A. Secured with a little shrink for extra measure. The driver has 3x Labeled USB-B that allows them to use same cable if needed for ECU, Dash, PDM.
